Gulp: Adventures on the Alimentary Canal by Mary Roach
A scientific, yet humorous, look at the digestive system. Roach, a science writer, presents odd facts, strange research, and the quirky people who immerse their lives in things that most of us either don’t think about (or don’t think we want to think about), but still find oddly captivating. I read the print copy (and felt compelled to read passages aloud to my husband), but I would recommend you try the audio book version.
