Hadley’s December Recommendation

Before I Go To Sleep by S. J. Watson.

“This book centers around Christine, who is suffering from serious memory loss after a traumatic accident. Her condition shifts from day to day, so some mornings she wakes up with anterograde amnesia (long term memory is in place but no new memories can be saved) and other mornings she is stricken with global amnesia (not having much memory of her life at all). The one constant is that each evening when she goes to sleep, she loses all memory of the day before. Christine’s situation is made somewhat manageable with the help of her doting husband Ben, although her daily life is still extremely difficult. She begins seeing a doctor who encourages her to keep a diary…and the story of who Christine is and what really happened to her becomes clearer with each entry. This book combines elements of mystery and suspense in one highly readable page turner, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for an engaging read.”
