Kimberly’s May Recommendation

A Long, Long Time Ago and Essentially True by Brigid Pasulka

“This beautiful love story weaves two threads of the same tale, one set in a small Polish village during World War 2 and one set in Krakow in the post-communist period.  The author, a Chicagoan of Polish descent (as am I), lovingly and sensitively portrays the difficulties and sacrifice of the Polish people.   The fact that I finished reading this a day before the tragic airplane crash in Russia that killed the Polish president and many other Polish leaders who were on their way to commemorate a Soviet-era autrocity, made me appreciate this novel even more.”
